Autistic Revolution Magazine is more than just a magazine. We are part of the neurodiversity movement, a social and identity movement that advocates for the acceptance of neurological differences that exist as part of the human experience.
We are dedicated to building connection and community, educating humanity on the neurodiversity paradigm, autistic identity, and culture through storytelling, creativity, illustrations, photography, vlogs, and podcasts.
We will do this by publishing empowering and validating content exclusively created by neurodivergent people. We will use neurodivergent affirming language underpinned by the neurodiversity paradigm.
People continue to write and publish misinformation about autistic and otherwise neurodivergent folk, so there's plenty of work to do to provide humanity with an alternative Ideology. Ditching the old-school "autism training" influenced by flawed research from way back!
We also respect that folks are on an individual journey of self-discovery and have an emotional attachment to historical language. However, imagine a world that celebrates the kaleidoscope of humanity, designing spaces with neurodivergent folk in mind and an education system that enables children to learn according to their neurotype which leans into their monotropic mind!
I dream of a world like this, and the growing number of kindred spirits yearning to belong, proves I'm not alone in this quest.
Until then, AR is our contribution and we are proud to play our part in the ever-growing and evolving neurodiversity movement.
Warmth and solidarity,
Jenny Loughran, Editor
